ISV Bundling: Business Process Management Savvion simplifies deployment of its business process management solution by bundling Pramati Server Savvion is a leader in business process management (BPM) solutions. Savvion BusinessManager enables fast and cost-effective transformation of business processes to automated web-based applications. Industry leaders including 3Com, Cisco Systems, i2 Technologies, Nissan Diesel, Telecom Italia, Toshiba Information Technologies, and TransUnion use Savvion solution to manage their business in real-time at the work-group level as well as across the enterprise. Challenge The Savvion BPM solution is based on the J2EE architecture and heavily uses Enterprise JavaBean (EJB) and Java Message Service (JMS) technology. The application server is the foundation; it provides the robustness and reliability needed for smoothly conducting mission-critical business processes. Asking customers to license expensive third-party application servers like BEA WebLogic and IBM WebSphere for deploying the solution was making the deployment process complex and adding another level of decision making to the purchase process. Many customers did not want the overhead of licensing and maintaining application server software. Solution Savvion decided to create a configuration that bundled an application server to deliver a black-box solution to customers to simplify the deployment process. After extensive evaluation and benchmarking, Savvion selected Pramati Server to bundle with its software as it supported all the current J2EE standards and had enterprise-class capabilities like fail-safe clustering for high-availability and flexible concurrency control for data integrity. Pramati and Savvion worked closely to seamlessly integrate Pramati Server. Savvion now ships a configuration with an embedded Pramati Server that is installed as a single unit. Benefits Lower TCO. With Pramati Server bundled with Savvion's BPM solution; customers don't have to separately license expensive application servers. Including Pramati Server as part of the Savvion solution has lowered the total-cost-of-ownership and made it more affordable for customers. Shorter sales cycles. As the application server has been removed as a line item, the sales close faster as customers don't need to evaluate various application servers and negotiate licensing with different vendors. Enhanced customer experience. Savvion solution works out-of-the-box making evaluation and implementation dramatically simpler. Customers are shielded from the complexities of J2EE and don't need Java/J2EE expertise to deploy the solution. Support is streamlined with Savvion providing the first-level support to end-customers and Pramati providing the second-level support as per back-to-back SLAs. Â |
