JDK Support in Pramati Studio

Overview

Studio supports all implementations and functionalities for both JDK 1.3.1 and 1.4 versions. Ensure the following before starting to work with JDK 1.4:

There is no need to modify the application development process to run any JDK version.

If there are more than one JDK versions on the local machine, use IDE Options panel to configure and run the required JDK. This document describes how to configure different JDK versions in Studio.

Configuring JDK in Studio

Select File > IDE Options from the menu bar. On selecting the JDK node in the IDE Options window, the following panel is displayed:

Configuring Multiple JDK versions

The default value in the JDK Home field is the JDK installation directory used during Studio installation. You can also configure more than one JDK version that are available on your system. This enables you to check code compliance with different JDK versions at the time of code compilation.

To configure more than one JDK versions:

  1. Click the browse button. This opens a new window.
  2. Click `plus' to browse to the installation directory of the required JDK version. Clicking OK adds the selected JDK to the JDK Home dropdown.
  3. To remove a JDK version from the dropdown, click the browse button. In the new panel, select a JDK version and click `minus'.

Configuring JDK classpath and source path

Select the JDK version name from the dropdown. In the Classpath field, provide the boot classpath for various applications and the class files.

In the Source path field, give the location of the source JAR file for the JDK version in use.

The plus button enables to browse and add files to the classpath. The minus button removes a file from the classpath. Click plus or minus to open the `File Chooser' screen. Double click on the required file after locating it in the explore panel. The up or down arrows enable to organize the files in the list according to preference.

Select `Save and Close' to apply settings and close the panel and `Apply' to save the settings and retaining the panel.

The `Reset to default' option enables you to return to the default settings.
