How do I Add Users?

After installing the Server, you may want to add users and change the default password. For information on how to add and configure Groups and Realms, read Configuring Security for Pramati Server.

To add a user using the Console:

  1. Start and connect to Server.
  2. Connect to the Console using a browser by typing the URL http://<host-name>:<port-number>/admin/. For example, if the Server is installed locally with default HTTP port, the URL would be http://localhost:8181/admin/. This displays the Web-based Console login screen. The default username and password are ''root'' and ''pramati'' respectively.
  3. On the Console, select Configure > Security in the Explore panel.
  4. Click Settings for an existing realm.
  5. Under the Groups section, click Add User. This leads you to the Security > Realm > User screen for adding a user. Provide the following details for the new user:
  6. Table 1: Adding a User
    Fields Description

Name Name of the new user.
Password To authenticate the new user name.
Retype Password Confirm your password here.
Groups Select the available Groups to which the new User is to be added using the '>>' option.

  7. Click Save. This adds the user to the selected group, that shows an increment in its number of Users field. Clicking the Group name link displays the details for the user.

Irrespective of whether or not any group has been selected while adding the user, the user is automatically added to the Everybody group, and can be later on assigned to any group. Even if the user changes groups, the user will always be a part of the Everybody group.

To make changes to the password and the group fields, click Edit against the selected user.
