GC occurs all the time in a VM. If it does not happen parallel to server activity, optimum performance is not achieved. Some VMs have an option of performing concurrent GC. If this option is enabled, Pramati Server provides high performance. Also, each VM has a set of parameters that can be tuned to enable high performance. For example, one parameter is Nursery size. To set the value, the VM should enable verbosegc. If this is set at server runtime, the VM prints messages as and when GC occurs.
Check for GC pattern and check the requirement of the application such as amount of memory freed and frequency at which memory is freed. Based on this, set other GC options for the VM.
